On these Vpets, there is something called "familiarity,” basically an indicator of how many steps you’ve taken on one type of terrain. There are various terrains you will travel across and as you travel, the "familiarity" will increase. When you fill up the bar for the terrain you are on, your slime will transform.
Mute or unmute by pressing A + C
Terrains found on this device; Flatlands (へいち), Plains/Meadow (そうげん), Ocean (うみ), Mountains (やま), Swamp (めま), Forest (もり), Desert (きばく), Cave (どうくう)
When your slime encounters an enemy, you can help them fight by pressing any button, if ignored it will eventually start the fight on its own.
If left hungry (Stomach at 0) for 16 hours, your Slime will die
Slimes live for about 11 days with good care. A small cross icon in the left means it will die soon. When it dies you must press the reset button to start over.
Your slime can Split (ie. reincarnate as a baby/mini slime in the terrain where the previous one dies) as long as you take good care of it and walk at least 5000 ish steps a day (it seems splitting is not guaranteed and I'm unsure exactly what the requirements are). You can Split up to 2 times.
Slimes that can NOT cross Ocean Tiles (Unless teleported via Warp Wing). This means if you would move into an ocean tile, instead your device will beep and have a (!) on the screen when you try to move forward. You will need to change directions.

Device Icons
First icon is the map, you can choose what direction you are traveling in (N, S, E, W) with the first button. This is just to show what cardinal direction you are traveling in, then you back out and shake/walk the slime to move in that direction. The next screen is (はつう) steps taken that day, then (そうほつう) total steps taken overall. Next is where you check the status of your pet.
The first bar shows how familiar your Slime is with the terrain. Fill this up to transform your Slime. (おなか) Hunger is next, make sure to keep this full. (ストレス) Stress bar should be kept empty, do this by playing games. The next screen shows your win/loss ratio in battle. (ねんれい) The number on the left shows generation, and the number on the right shows age. And last is (しあわせ) Happiness, with a max of 99.
Next Icon is the Food icon, you can feed your Slime the Specialty Food (めいぶつ = Meibutsu) food to increase familiarity, or Meal (ごはん = Gohan) if you don’t want to increase it, or your familiarity meter is full.
Next is the game you play to lower stress. The game has two easy patterns (3 → 6 → 0 → 5 → 8 → 1 → 4 → 2 → 9 → 7" or "2 → 7 → 0 → 8 → 4 → 1". →6→9→3→5) and the goal is to get an 8 or 9 to win.
Next is the icon you use when your slime is sick or needs rescuing. Sometimes your Slime will fall into a hole and need saving or get sick after losing a fight or from falling. Pick (穴から出す) to rescue your slime from the hole or (やくそう) to heal him when sick.
The 2nd to last option is to wake your Slime if he is asleep (or put to sleep by a potion). The last shows who you have transformed into in the current run.
